You are a freelance spy, infiltrating high security buildings with subterfuge, gratuitous face-punching, and an unusual type of electronic sabotage. You can cross-link things like light switches and doors so that the guards unwittingly take out their own security systems, their colleagues, and even themselves.

Gunpoint plays out as a side-scrolling platform game whereupon the goal is to break into high security buildings using a handful of gadgets. Generally speaking the goal involve stealing information by hacking computer terminals around the building before escaping via subway. Obstacles that hinder you involve patrolling guards and a wide variety of security systems. Fortunately, you're free to rewire the security systems (using the Crosslink) once you've tapped into them. This allows you to set up traps in order to disable guards or to allow you free movement throughout the building.
